I graduated in 1998 with an art degree from the University of Maryland and moved to Portland, Oregon with a Gateway PC, a positive attitude and a telecommuting job for Ma Bell building hundreds of HTML pages for their B to B web properties. I had my first cell phone — it was large. Cats hadn't taken over the internet, and Portland wasn't putting birds on things.
By 2001, I had launched 30 or so iterations of my personal "experimental" website, alongside countless internet misfits, all curious about this brave new online world — those of us building the internet during that time started to find and work with one another, in the lonely dark ages, B.S.M. (Before Social Media).
